One of life's little updates...

I've not been writing here, minimal reading elsewhere, and no sewing (short of a pair of jammies - out of fleece, no less! - & some clothes protectors [i.e., bibs]) for my darling Mumsy.

The short version of life at the moment is that we have been approved for in-home Hospice Care.   This is a good thing!   The 30-pound weight that has been lifted from my shoulders, as primary (i.e., 'sole') care-giver for Mom is so very freeing, and the knowledge that people will be here to support us, answer questions, and provide guidance on many levels is a blessing that moves me to tears of gratitude  : )

I will likely be posting a bit about this process as I live in it, and hopefully will be able to sprinkle some creative sewing posts in too.   But right now, life is mostly about making sure that Mom is safe, comfortable, and able to share the smile in her heart that has always been such a support for me. : )

Ask your dear Mom if there is any small gift you can make ... and treasure each smile she has. Hope your back is feeling better today! (mine is)

Thanks dfr : ) My back is healed - just being careful with all the lifting that's happening - glad that yours is feeling better too!

A person can carry only so much weight on the shoulders. Hospice will be a big help.

Wow, Jilly Be, you certainly have been carrying a heavy load. I'm glad to hear that you are getting some seriously great help. I used hospice with my mom too.

I am glad you and your mom are getting the help you need. My dad was in hospice (Alzheimer’s) They are an amazingly wonderful group...know you mom is in good hands.

Thank you everyone :) I don't believe I've ever heard a negative story about hospice, and everyone I've met so far has been fabulous at their job.

Today is our first 'official' nursing visit - I just spoke to the nurse on the phone, & she sounds like another gentle angel :)
